Truckfighters
Truckfighters
Truckfighters are back with the sizzling new album V. Yup, you guessed it, it's their fifth album and it's pretty great.

If you are interested in groovy, stoner-influenced, progressive and melodic hard rock you probably know about Truckfighters already. "The best band that ever existed" as Josh Homme said in the 2011 "fuzzomentary" Truckfighters. You might also know the story about how Niklas 'Dango' Källgren teamed up with bassist and vocalist Oskar 'Ozo' Cedermalm in a worn down rehearsal space in Örebro, Sweden in 2001 and how the first song they ever recorded, Desert Cruiser, since then has gone on to become a desert rock anthem. You probably also know that the band itself has gone on to release four full length albums and played sold out shows on four continents.

The band's upcoming fifth album, V, is released September 30th under exclusive license to the established label Century Media Records.
"Century Media have been very cool with us. We've been able to keep that do it yourself-philosophy of ours, to focus solely on our creative process and producing the album", says Ozo.

V continues the Truckfighters tradition of blending big riffs, dynamism and intricate songwriting.
"The album won't come as a huge surprise for those who've heard our earlier work – but at the same time it feels like a leap forward. We've been able to create some of our best songs so far. For us this is definitely the album of the year", says Dango and laughs.

If you know your Truckfighters you know their history with drummers. It's been a few. "We use to say that Truckfighters has a 'very Spinal Tap relationship' to drummers," says Niklas, "but we are really happy with the contributions of Daniel 'El Danno' Israelsson on V". "Also, it's pretty cool that we got our friend, drummer extraordinaire Peter Damin – known from the Paradise Lost album Faith Divides Us – Death Unites Us – to play the drums on the track The 1."

Yawning Man
Yawning Man
Brothers’n’sisters, this wailing desert trio is truly the shit, and has been aiding my most recumbent and stonedest late night thunks since it first landed two years ago. Throughout the landscape music of Yawning Man, the post-Ventures, post-Shadows guitar melodies are constantly being undermined, up-ended and sent deep into a dark Joy Division territory, by weird chords and bass channels that create the kind of brooding and thunderous atmosphere that gives even the most easy-going a real fear of flying."

DESERT SUNS
DESERT SUNS
There's a new sheriff in town by the name of Desert Suns. It seems that bands today are having to do more and more to stand out and these fellas have done just that. Where stoner rock, doom, sludge, psychedelic and blues all overlap you get Desert Suns. A San Diego band formed in 2013 by four hefty dudes with enough hair to challenge Cousin Itt to a test of anonymity. Soon after forming they released their single "Burning Temples" January of 2014 which helped them to acquire a great fan base and got them some great reviews. "Some of the doomiest riffs that would make one Mr. Iommi a very happy and proud person" says Bill Goodman in his review of the Desert Suns single Burning Temples. Their debut, self-titled album was released later that year on August 16th 2014 and reassured fans that they were no one hit wonder and also got them enough attention to book gigs all around the city. This attention is much deserved as the band has a genuine fluidity and a fresh take on how we hear rock. Although, the band has the ability to rip out some heavy material that would even get Grandma headbanging, they know how to seduce through gritty americana thanks to well-placed harmonica and purring vocals. From beginning to end, Desert Suns has compelling hooks, an addictive atmospheric energy and heavy, pulsating beats that get blood boiling with obstreperous energy.
